The 2014 Benny Awards
The Black Business Association of Memphis (BBA) today announced that the 2014 BENNY Awards Luncheon will be held on Friday July 11th from 11:30-1:00pm at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis.  (BENNY is an acronym for Black Entrepreneurship and Networking Needs You) The organization marks its 40th anniversary with the theme “Legacy & Longevity”. 


Three local businesspeople will receive the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for their contributions to the community.

TV’s Judge Glenda Hatchett will deliver the keynote address. Judge Hatchett presided over the syndicated show, “Judge Hatchett”, which ran for ten seasons and is currently the founder of Parent Power Now, the premiere online parenting network.  Judge Hatchett is also the author of the national best-sellers “Dare to Take Charge” (Center Street) which was recently released on September 20, 2010 and “Say What You Mean, Mean What You Say” (HarperCollins).

She has previously served on the Board of Directors of Gap, Inc. the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), The Service Master Company, and Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Presently, Glenda Hatchett is on the Board of Advisors for the Atlanta Falcons Football Organization.  Hatchett resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her two sons.

The Black Business Association (BBA) of Memphis is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, which was founded in 1974. The BBA is supported by the City of Memphis Department of Housing and Community Development. The BENNY Awards recognizes superior achievement in business by minority and women owned businesses and by supportive corporations.
